About Jason | Integrative Counsellor in Hull, East Yorkshire
Background
I'm a qualified integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor based in Hull, offering talking therapy in person and online.
I work with adults (18+) experiencing a range of difficulties, with a particular interest in late-identified neurodivergence after receiving my diagnosis later in life. I spent many years navigating work, relationships and everyday life without knowing why some things seemed harder for me than they appeared to be for others.
Before becoming a therapist, I had a 15-year career in aerospace engineering. During this time, I had a mix of craft and professional roles which has given me experience of shop floor and office environments.
My previous career gives me a strong appreciation of the pressures associated with technical professions, high-performance environments and career change. I understand the challenges of balancing achievement with wellbeing and the impact that workplace culture can have on mental health.
Training & Experience
I began psychotherapy training in 2023 and I enrolled on a 3-year UKCP-accredited training course in Hull. This included a 12-month clinical placement where I provided counselling as a volunteer clinician.
In 2026, I set up my private practice for talking therapy and I qualified as a psychotherapeutic counsellor. I am currently studying for a Level 7 Diploma in psychotherapy which I hope to complete in 2027.

About “Divergent Scripts”
“Divergent Scripts” comes from the Transactional Analysis concept of a life script — the beliefs and patterns we can develop early in life about ourselves, other people and the world around us. When we follow our life scripts, we often end up experiencing familiar negative feelings.
As a late-diagnosed neurodivergent individual, I've become particularly interested in what happens when we grow up without understanding that we experience the world differently. We can develop beliefs about ourselves such as “I'm too sensitive”, “I need to adapt to fit in” or “I shouldn't let people see me struggle.” Therapy can offer an opportunity to explore those old scripts to increase your awareness of when they may be holding you back.
